Hello,

I'd like to begin private pilot training shortly, and will need to get my initial third class medical exam. I have some medical factors that may require some medical documentation from my GP (hypertension). I also had a visit to the ER a couple years ago for heart palpitation, but heart monitor and blood tests showed no heart issues.

Due to these issues, I would like to ensure that I have everything lined up that I may need to pass the medical. I would like to get recommendations from those here as to a good AME in Colorado (specifically the Boulder area, but will travel anywhere along the Front Range), who has been proven to take the time to prepare candidates before the examination (via consultation), and who will fight for their patients in case any medical issues prevent immediate issuance of a medical.

There was a post in 2015, but many of the doctors listed have since retired, or have passed away.

Please let me know if you can recommend a patient-advocate AME.

Set up a Consultation. Have the AME tell you what you need to do. Then, and only after you've gotten all those tasks, tests, paperwork, whatever, then go for the 3rd class.

Tell you right now, Dr Sancetta in Boulder is great. Unfortunately, last time I called his office (2017) he wasn't taking new Class 3. But call him...never know.

John Harrris (Centennial) is excellent and will happily do a consultation. For a fee, of course.

Ladwig's office doesn't understand the word Consultation, or didn't when I called a few years ago.

Thanks. I'd called Dr. Sancetta's office, and he is no longer taking on new patients. I was told he's reducing office hours and will now only see existing patients, so unfortunately that's off the table. I'll look into Dr. Harris, thanks for the recommendation.
