20 years ago I started working on my private pilot certificate while in college. I failed the color vision test during my 3rd class medical exam. I couldn't afford to finish the training as a broke student and figured failing the color vision test doomed my goal of being a professional pilot.

I'm an active skydiver/ wingsuit pilot and several of my friends are pilots. The subject came up one evening at dinner and I soon realized that my dream may not have to be dead. They explained there were other tests that could be done and if those didn't work I could attempt an OCVT & MFT as a last shot.

Friday I visited the AME to start the process and breezed through the color vision test. 1st class medical is in hand and it was a great day. Now I am studying again for my private license at 41 years old and putting together a plan to walk away from a stable six-figure job to chase my childhood dream of becoming a professional pilot.

Blue skies.
