There was a series of posts a few months ago (that I now can't find) where others were complaining how to recover a partially used paint flit can.

A revelation - I've now successfully reused an epoxy paint flit can 4 times over two years by religiously removing and cleaning the nozzle in lacquer thinner after each use. But in addition I have found that adding a small drop of oil into the flit can receptacle before replacing the nozzle keeps everything from hardening up. The oil fills the nozzle too. Later it then is only necessary to spray a short time to flush that oil out and resume spraying.

This has worked on a couple other paint systems, but epoxy is definitely the worst at hardening up.

In addition, I'm sure the very fine slot in the nozzle inlet tube is apparently only to serve as a last ditch filter. If there is stuff in the slot from the paint/propellant mix inside, it will plug the nozzle. The slot can be cleaned with a business card or similar.
