Let's start with an eyeroll :rolleyes2:

I watch maybe 2 movies a year. I have kids and not a lot of time to break away but based on what I heard about Dead Pool, This was an epic, can't miss movie.

I heard:
"The violence makes Kill Bill look like the notebook"
"The humor is so crass, you will cringe the whole time"
"you get to see Ryan Reynold's junk" (why I really went)
"The jokes are so over the top that you will go to confession after seeing it"

It's a good movie.
It is a funny movie.

It is Van Wilder as a super hero. Same Punny humor that is in that film with a lot of 4th wall breaking dead pan delivery which is his style anyway (and yes it is a funny style. I like his delivery).

Based on the hype, I expected ground breaking violence and humor.

Go see it. You will probably like it but the one-upmenship of the internet really makes you think stuff is the second coming.
Its dick and fart jokes. Good dick and fart jokes but just like any other R rated comedy.

The internet / facebook exaggerates things a bit, and I Think it grows and grows as it spreads and blows things out of proportion a bit setting certain maybe unrealistic expectations of things.

I think what got people all twisted in the groin region is its a super hero movie, and in some peoples eyes all super heroes are supposed to be G-rated. If they had ever read a dead pool comic they would know thats not the case. The character isn't designed for kids or for everyone for that matter.

What was the thing with Ben Afflek where he was the comic character who was a blind lawyer turned superhero? That thing wasn't exactly for kids either... It's not like there isn't precedent of dark characters playing superheroes.

Huh! I'd just assumed it was another dick and fart joke movie. I miss the Blues Brothers. The Ankroyd/Belushi style of raunchy humor was so much more wholesome! ;-)

So the date didn't end well and yer ****ed at the movie?

Ya know Bryan..... This is a family internet site and your sexual jokes / hints / suggestions are getting quite old and not suited for the general public to witness and read... IMHO...

Just suppose your young children read what daddy types,,, what would they think? And..... I am surprised your wife buys off on this kind of public display of sexual thoughts...

I go over the edge on political topics, get sanctioned for it and I admit I have it coming.... I promise to do better....

Maybe we can get you to tone it down too?:idea:

Peace brother...

Ben... Are you that insecure with your sexuality?

That's what you would call a "herd mentality." It's the new thing these days.

Funny you should say that. I was just thinking the other day how this forum seems to have moved in a certain direction and how you were probably the most responsible for that. Kind of a frat boy feel to it.

Oh the horror. This board has an appeal to people under the age of 85 :yikes: and *gasp* humor...

Y'all need to come into the 21st century.

Then I apologize for my brand of humor.
I'll save it for the purple board.

It's pretty simple but takes some self control. Don't make eye contact with them, don't call them, don't text them, don't email them...don't even think about them. Got it?

Jessica Jones series on Netflix. Definitely not kid friendly. Lots of Jessica jones sex.

Ben became PC Principal from South Park while I was away from this thread?! LOL. Wow.

Well, despite the whining about adult humor, I'll contribute. My dislike of "the Internet effect" is on just about everything that is mildly entertaining or adventurous being labeled "epic" or "amazing". They have devalued those words by applying them to so many instances that don't constitute an epic event. Riding a skateboard down a 10' handrail isn't amazing, it's actually commonplace. Jumping off of a 30' cliff into a lake isn't an "unbelievable trick", it's what you can witness every weekend at a lake! The Internet tries to make everyday life into such a frenzy of unequivocally awesome moments that it becomes mundane to even pursue the click-bait headlines anymore.

Speaking of movies...we saw "The Finest Hours" in 3D last night. It's a good flick that is definitely a "big screen" sort of movie. It would lose a lot on a television -- even a big one.

The movie starts slowly, but with reason. By the end we were so tense that we were sore!

WRT this movie, the "internet effect" worked in a negative way. Once it comes out that it's a "Disney" flick, people immediately discount it. This weird attitude spreads quickly on social media, it seems.

The Internet is to history what the printing press was, on steroids. And 'roid rage.

Before the press, folks who wanted to publish something really had to have something worth saying and a LOT of money to distribute it.

After the press, not as much. But you still had limited page counts and expenses. We hired people to run things called "newspapers" to sift the crap and distill things down to a readable daily format.

Internet now gives everyone the ability to publish nearly anything at zero cost. And you can't possibly find a distilled down version that isn't specialized to a particular group's needs and wants in the specialized publications.

You rarely see anything outside of the overwhelming stream of stuff you said you "like". People get "offended" when something they don't agree with intervenes in their binge reading of their favorite things.

PoA recently did away with SZ because of it.

I did a podcast. Let's be frank. The content was often weak or garbage. But because it always had an aviation theme, we had listeners. People want to hear their stuff and their stuff only. If it said "aviation" on it, somebody wanted to listen. (And that's me included. I'd still rather listen to one of the surviving aviation podcasts than a whole lot of other possible content out there on any topic imaginable.)

In many ways the Internet is both a blessing and a curse. You can find anything and any topic. But you have to wade through mountains of stuff that wasn't worth publication in the first place. And you're more likely to only look for the stuff you like.

Seeing a rebuttal editorial side by side to your one you agreed with, died with the newspaper. And you can't publish anything without the comments either being "yay! I agree" or "nay! You're a ****!" and almost nothing in-between.

Much of the visible and mean "intolerances" seen on the Net, are things that simply would have prompted someone in the past to simply turn the editorial page and sigh. Maybe once in a great while someone would get on a soap box and send a "letter to the editor" and even then, the editor would have to choose a very small number of responses to publish, so they'd choose well-written, well-rounded responses. Again, sifting out the garbage.

Now the garbage just shows up minutes after publication. And someone is publishing more garbage while that's showing up.

That's on my list of "movies to see before they come out on DVD", but I can pass on 3D.

And, speaking of movies, I watched "John Wick", again, last night.

Kind of an anti-hero story, but the styling is pretty cool:

This place would be perfect if it was just a bunch of 75 year olds arguing about the same **** they argued about on rec.aviation at the birth of the internet. We need more young people in aviation, but only young people just like the old people.....

Well played. As for the other 'frat boy' comments, I certainly don't participate as much as some, but I read just about everything and have definitely appreciated the PoA entertainment that your posts generally bring.

I must be getting old because it's been a long time since I've seen a movie that I thought was really worth the ticket price.

But I've seen several shows that were worth the $1.50 Redbox price.

Bryan.... Keep it going man. I love seeing all that rediculous **** you post. Hell, man. I go and search your post just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Interwebz bible thumping and moments of subjective soapboxing opinions are like ***hole*s...... Everyone has one, but nobody really wants to hear it.

luv ya man...... But in a fist bump kinda way, not like when you offered me an autopilot escapade over DFW kinda thing.

6PC and I are negotiating my purchase on the beta testing board.

Bryan is mid-flight on his parabolic arc as an internet personality. It goes something like this:

1. New guy on board with fresh ideas, quick wit, and good questions. Everyone loves him.

2. Once the newness is gone and all the questions have been answered, the quick wit remains. Everyone likes him.

3. Over time, the wit rubs someone the wrong way, not due to the wit but because someone is butt-hurt that day. Quick-witted Bryan starts to become defensive, rubbing more people the wrong way.

Fast forward 20 years. Bryan is the old guy on the board, more curmudgeon than wit. He's seen it all, heard it all, and done most of it. And there's some new whippersnapper making inappropriate jokes...

Lather, rinse, repeat. :)

That is actually a fairly accurate description.

Get off my lawn!

Sac seems very physically strong and as such would be useful for a lot of work around the house. Price is going to be the tricky part w/o getting an appraisal of some sort.

Also there is a legal issue I think. If I buy you and pay you for the purchase of yourself, you have the money but since I own you, I would assume that would be my money.

Basically, I think you are just mine at this point.

So you're saying targeted Viagra ads will be successful on the Blue Hair board? ;)

That's a good point, I haven't thought this thing through completely.
