I have the opportunity to acquire a cheap Quonset hangar hut kit that someone never constructed.

Has anyone recently built one? I understand that pole barn or metal building type are more the norm now. How have yall navigated building codes, wind ratings, the airport authority ect, with respect to Quonset huts specifically. I know it’ll be difficult airport to airport. I’m just curious in general. Thanks!

Start with airport authorities. What’s required and if engineering drawings are available for that kit.

I have a quonset, bought it already done.
Depending where you're located (I'm in Texas), the summer sun can heat the metal to over 130 degrees as measured on the inside.
I can see where that woudn't be an issue if you don't plan on enclosing it.
If you do, wow does it get hot inside.
REALLY hot.
Mine was already enclosed, so I put closed cell foam inside...massive difference.

I really like my hangar, but you do lose a lot of clear space near the walls, as in several feet per side you can't get an airplane near.
That also applies to cabinets or workbenches.
