Anyone notice dollar signs in metars across the midwest over the weekend?
Possibly trailing a cryptic acronym?

No googling!

You have 1 minute.
Then put down your pencils.

No, but if I had, I wouldn't rely on them. The equipment needs maintenance. There are some around here that show that regularly.

Boomers sucking money out of tornadoes.

Well Done.

Well, you already answered, but yes, a dollar sign means one of the sensors is reporting out of tolerances. I learned that on my CFI ride, because the examiner didn't know what it meant so I called flight service and asked. Darn smart and helpful folks at the local FSS.

Lindburg answered correctly.

I had never seen it and nobody ever mentioned that to me.
I was going to fly and I saw magenta circle on skyvector but all other airports were clear so I started digging on that $ symbol.

maybe it will help someone on an oral at some point who knows.
