Quick question for you gents, as I am having a brain fart and cant seem to figure it out.

I just looked up the weather for KMRY, and got the following:

METAR KMRY 271954Z 30007KT 270V350 10SM CLR 16/11 A3003 RMK AO2 SLP181 T01560106

Right after the wind and before the visibility, what is the 270v350? Does that indicate that the wind is variable between 270 and 350? Or am I way off base here?

Correct!

That's what I thought, but never recalled seeing it that way. I have always seen in VRB005 or some such....never an actual direction/speed, followed by a range...

Thanks for the clarification/confirmation.

The wind is over 5 kts., so you get more precise data with that as it's more important when it's over 5 kts. (Most small aircraft charts don't go above a 5 kt. tailwind.)

Not a gent, but... yup, you got it!

Here's fun trivia from that one. Temperature says 16C and dewpoint says 11C. Is it really?
