What is the proper medical term for describing the methodology of a condition?

By methodology I mean how the condition starts and progresses. By way of example

Posion Ivy

Contracted by coming in contact with oil from the posion ivy plant either from the plant itself or an object that has come in contact with the plant. Oil from the plant is a blistering agent. Body releases hystimines to counteract the blistering. Blisters break open leaving the body open to infection, etc.

Is the term pathology?

Thanks!

Try Pathophysiology. Pathology is the physical characteristics-what it looks like, either grossly or microscopically. Physiology is how it acts to cause the condition(Chemical irritation, Histamine response). Together, Pathophysiology, covers about anything related to a disease or condition.
