I have some .wmv files I would like to link to the ...Joke Friday thread, but have no idea how to set it up to do so.

Can someone explain to me (in the simplest of terms) how to do this?

Thanks!

You can either upload it to youtube and link it, or upload it to some other filesharing site and link it. Or host it yourself if you have a website.

There's no really easy way to do it besides that.

Upload it to youtube. You can then embed the video directly into your post. A PoA full backup right now is 5 gigabyte. 4.9 gigabyte of that is attachments. The other 100 megabyte is the actual database.

Easiest way is to upload as an attachment (if they are small enough). If that doesn't work you need to upload them to a public server and link to them. Several threads list public servers for this kind of stuff but I don't use them so I don't remember.

Time to consider near-line storage. ;-) Just burn all the old attachments to a DVD and change the file pointers for them. We can wait a few seconds for old attachments to load.

lol..well..5 gig is of no concern to me :)

Oh, for a minute there I thought you were running this site on old 10MB MFM drives...

Good God...you dredged up some painful memories there! MFM!

Ever plug a SCSI-1 hard drive in with the data cable reversed???

Ever have a $5000 SCSI hard drive with the power socket broken and you had to see if it was possible to plug the cable in upside down while it was live?... Guy I know.
