Question for Fighter Pilots

How easy to shoot from a WWII fighter? Today we could get them with a drone.

A lot easier when you are going 1/2 speed.

Drones don't have guns, just missiles. Also drones won't be flying anywhere near an air-to-air fight either.

Considering how much it costs to train a modern fighter pilot wouldn't it be worth a missile(second missile actually first one got the plane) to kill an enemy pilot?

What airborne missile systems will engage a person under canopy?

This is just cute mental aerobatics to imagine some moral superiority or cleanliness to fighter pilots. Not shooting them under canopy is a war fighting failure. Bunch of accomplished pilots from yesteryear were shot down, killing them under canopy and denying their home country of later contributions is the rational way to wage war.

It's considered the same as a submarine surfacing after sinking a ship and machine-gunning survivors in the water. The Law of Armed Conflict is there to put limits on your "rationality."

Ah yes stuffy people putting written limits on humans at war that always works.

I thought it was clarified earlier. It's against the 1949 Geneva Convention Protocol I Article 42. Not only would the drone pilot be in violation of that, but they'd be in violation of ROE in proportion of response. As far as helos? No PIC in their right mind would go after a pilot under canopy. On our side that is.
