I need a new landing light.

Anybody have one of these laying around?

No need to ship. I will come pick it up.

You should be able to go to any commercial light supplier and get one. Pretty much a standard bayonet mount looks to me, should be available in any voltage you want.

Ah, that it should be so easy. So far I've had no takers among the local distributors, but I do have a lady in Chicago that is trying to track one down for me.

Dimensioned sketch attached, derived from field measurements.

I have a catalog at work we use for wacky light bulbs, they can find anything - I think it is Specialty Light Bulbs or something.
Unusual microscope bulb? 1960 slide projector? Darkroom bulb? Tiny obscure bulb for ophthalmoscope? They have had anything I needed.

Thanks, Dave. I've fired off an email to them, if this is the outfit to which you refer.

Steve:

Best answer: Boom Beam kit followed by FSDO approval, then you're out of the light bulb buying business for a long time.

I've considered that, Spike.

I'd like to keep the plane as authentic as possible for the "show" quality. But if I don't succeed in finding a like for like replacement soon I'll be going the upgrade route. I won't even need FSDO approval with this plane!

My brother is in Europe right now negotiating with Airbus for a couple of 380's for FedEx. If his EU connections can't find me a light bulb I intend to make the modifications to accept an off the shelf light. I'm considering an HID installation as an alternative (no more filaments!).

This outfit has a 750,000 candlepower landing light that should be rather illuminating:

Have you been flying the plane, Steve? I know you were having a couple issues with it.

In accordance with the rules of PoA I have responded to this post in the Flight Following forum.
