Quantum Physics - Mass of Data

does regular data weigh as much as porn data? if not, then my hard drive weighs a whole lot more hahaha.

jk y'all.

My opinion? It will weigh the same. One measure of entropy is the amount of information needed to describe the physical state of a system. This will be unchanged since the same amount of information is used to describe the data before and after writing the data. As the state of the system is unchanged, there is no change in energy, and hence no change in mass according to the mass/energy equivalence described earlier.

The OP is about "mass" of data. Mass is defined as resistance to acceleration.

Well, at the risk of being pedantic, Lorentz would have something to say about that. However, in general terms, you're right. But, the statefulness of a unit of mass can be defined without reference to an acceleration using special relativity.

If the system is closed, the mass is invariant. The postulate of this system being closed assumes there is no Hawking radiation. Of course it could lose all the gauge bosons it wishes and remain mass invariant.
