Couldn't find my old string and short clip about my PVT ASEL's first solo, but here's the unidentified commentary by the senior airport guys about his LAST landing as a student pilot......

Although you are always certain the candidate is ready, there are always the "day of..." variables. He did a REALLY NICE shortfield landing upon which the DPE commented, and only had one troublesome maneuver- which was within spec...the steep turn. And that was, I think, checkride jitters.

Well done, Dave!

yep you cant teach checkrideitis. it just happens.

When your student passes the checkride it's almost as good as passing one yourself (which you actually are in a way).
Folks forget lots of stuff in their lifetimes, but you never forget your primary flight instructor.

Man can I relate to that! I had a disasterous IOE on the 737 when I was getting checked out. Of course, it didn't help matters that the check guy was a bit of a jerk.
