Provigil - Wonder Drug?

Or the 2012 equivalent of LSD, amphetamines, caffeine? Isn't the affects to cognitive resources the excuse many use for recreational drug use? How is this drug different?

What is the FAA's take on this kind of drug? The stories I've read imply all types of people, including pilots, use them on a regular basis.

PROHIBITED. The USAF does use some of this under the direct supervision of a Flight Surgeon.

I used to always wonder what the medical officer was doing on the ramp as we were securing from a 24 hour patrol....some things can be done if there is DIRECT QUALIFIED supervision. But at home......not so much.
