Saw this on I-75 between Cincinnati and Dayton. My guess, C-130 Spares for a Guard Unit. 80 mph sideways, fortunately not feathered.

There are actually quite a few. Most of them are operated by Sierra Nevada. They also own the Type Certificate.

That makes complete sense. Sierra Nevada has a large Mod facility at KDAY, Cox International just North of Dayton, as you might know being from Piqua  .

They are Hartzell propellers, built in Piqua. Probably going to or from the repair shop there.

I had a trip to Piqua many years ago (took someone to visit Hartzell), and my scheduler was commenting on the identifier. He said, “I17 makes perfect sense…I for ohIo, and 17 because q is the 17th letter of the alphabet.” We looked at each other and started counting…sure enough, it is the 17th letter.

I’ve only been to Piqua once, but I’ll never forget the identifier. ;)
