Has POA now become prophetic? I just noticed this under Alerts:

Apparently our forum software can now predict future responses.

Maybe a time warp is why the site is running so slowly....

Yes, as a computer science major I was able to use the same technology underlying the PoA forums for stock trading and am now incredibly wealthy.

If you're quick enough you can also use the response predictions to tailor your posts for best engagement before they merge with our active timeline.

You don’t get it. YOU are a time traveler, prophesy has nothing to do with it.

Based on this thread, there is suspicion about some members being caught in a time warp/having futuresight abilities.

I believe in an attempt to remedy the POA slowness problem, some sort of technical experimentation went wrong and some members were sent into a time warp or the future. The mods are unsure of who was caught in this process and are seeking to identify the members without bringing this situation to the attention of the general membership in fear of a mass exodus from the board.

I expect now this has been brought to the attention of the council that this thread will be erased as well as all memory of it - although they may wait until they have determined the proper course of action to return any affected members to the proper place in the space-time continuum.

I will try to told them, but no one will listened.

Nauga,
slightly ahead of his time

I'm guessing you saw this happen when jumping between devices. I've seen similar although up to a day or two in the future.

Any electric airplanes?
Yup. Their range was up to almost a whole hour.

Deltahawk was announcing deliveries to begin in 2051.

Unleaded avgas was promised for 2053.

The FAA was promising reforms to the FARs, including an Owner-Maintenance registration category for the many airplanes over 90 years old.

Well, I know it’s not because the site is running faster than the speed of light.....

Had @Crashnburn soloed yet?

Isn't this con called the wire, and wasn't it part of the plot of The Sting?

I'm hesitant to post in case this entire forum was created just to pull one trick on one member...

“One of the major problems encountered in time travel is not that of becoming your own father or mother. There is no problem in becoming your own father or mother that a broad-minded and well-adjusted family can't cope with. There is no problem with changing the course of history—the course of history does not change because it all fits together like a jigsaw. All the important changes have happened before the things they were supposed to change and it all sorts itself out in the end.

The major problem is simply one of grammar, and the main work to consult in this matter is Dr. Dan Streetmentioner's Time Traveler's Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations. It will tell you, for instance, how to describe something that was about to happen to you in the past before you avoided it by time-jumping forward two days in order to avoid it. The event will be described differently according to whether you are talking about it from the standpoint of your own natural time, from a time in the further future, or a time in the further past and is further complicated by the possibility of conducting conversations while you are actually traveling from one time to another with the intention of becoming your own mother or father.

Most readers get as far as the Future Semiconditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional before giving up; and in fact in later editions of the book all pages beyond this point have been left blank to save on printing costs.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy skips lightly over this tangle of academic abstraction, pausing only to note that the term "Future Perfect" has been abandoned since it was discovered not to be.”

― Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

The database is RDS and the timestamp is managed by the database when the post is inserted, given this is a fully managed AWS service, its time is correct. The forum software (PHP), is running on EC2, and the PoA sys admin needs to figure out why its time is drifting. The difference between these two instances of time is what is creating the issue in the screenshot.

This is weird. I just made a post and it said I poster it 38 minutes ago.

Shhhh . . . I'm working on a way to get into my Edward Jones account through PoA . . . with 38 minutes I'll own that island with the private grass strip and marina.

Shouldn't the sw have a check to prevent impossible answers? Maybe constrain the elapsed time since a posting to be >0? Allowing a negative number, so that it looks like the post will be in the future, is silly. This looks like very sloppy sw design.

Yeah, but that'd take more effort & they were only worried about the happy-path (most devs aren't that great). They're likely using a library to translate the time difference to human friendly words & that library supports both future/now/past inputs.
