When they're telling me something, it's the appropriate readback to acknowledge what they told me. Spoken clearly, but not slowly. Short, sweet, to the point.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

It ties up the frequency less, too.

Fly both. My lessons were based at a non-controlled, but I would fly t & g's at a class D. Good to full stop at the controlled as well to get used to talking to grnd. I fly in So Cal, so finding another airport close by is rrreally easy.

Now this is just out of curiosity but do you think that it would be better to learn to fly at a towered or non-towered airport?

Also what does it mean if a CFI is off the hook?
