Prop Strike - deal breaker on purchase?

Not at all. Just make sure whatever led to the prop strike didn't damage something else that wasn't completely and properly repaired.

New engine was installed 6/24/2009, Major repair completed in the A/F log, 10/4/2012.

How can you tell if the damage occurred as a prop strike?

there will be no entry in a new engines log about any prior damage to the airframe, and there is no requirement to say why or when the damage occurred.

Yet it may have taken 3 years to repair the airframe, because of the accident that caused the old engine to go away. It could have been a used engine too.

There is no requirement to relate one entry in one log to any other.

Many prop strike engine go directly in for core on a rebuilt engine, bye bye any records of any prop strike. Plus airframes seldom have any damage from prop strikes.

The only thing that makes any difference at all is the material condition of the aircraft the day you buy it.
