They've fixed it on the politico site now.

I must be an even worse proofreader than I thought, as I see nothing at all wrong with what's posted.

What a relief! I'm not a poor proofreader, just lousy at Geography!

I used to get those two mixed up, then I got interested in history, and how Vermont was originally part of New York and split off to form their own state.

Well, when I was a kid I had to write a report on New England.

I knew roughly where the State of New England was, but not exactly. I must have spent an hour pouring over a map of the United States looking for New England. New England was one of those states I listed, along with Arkansas and Arkansaw in order to be able to come up with close to 50 states on a quiz.

So you gotta give the guy a little slack.

Like finding all the dates for the US holidays, but failing to find The Fourth of July because the calendar labeled it Independence Day.

You would not believe how often people ask me, when they find out I'm Canadian, "Do y'all (this is Tennessee) have a fourth of July in Canada?"

My response is a deadpan "Yes, it's right after the third and before the fifth."

What I ask a Canadian, when I meet one who is not a francophone, is this: do French Canadians end their sentences with "eh", too?

I haven't found one yet who knows.

Ever been asked when Cinco De Mayo is?

It's probably more popular in Canada than England. :D Well, actually the British are probably glad they are rid of us now.

Don't feel too bad, I had to do a double take and I'm not bad at geography. (Though very much behind the times as regards all the new countries and names of countries in the Eastern Hemisphere.)

all those little New England states 'up there' all in a bunch - its easy to get confused. Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island - its not a island and whats Rhode?
