Interesting and effective.
 
Back before the religious extremists took over that part of Africa, you could travel to the Tenere desert by driving down through Morocco and Algeria. I believe that the Tenere itself is still reasonably stable, but getting there is a bit of a challenge with the political instability in the area. The memorial sure looks like a place worth a visit.
 
Do they realize in a few short years the entire memorial will be covered in sand?
