I enjoy watching videos related to aviation on youtube, so I would like to see any that you have found and enjoyed watching.

ok, ok. that was gross. but i couldn't help my laughing & cringing at the same time.

If you weren't too put off by the video that I shared, please post some that you have enjoyed!

Here is my first real entry, Operation Red Flag. I'm sure the majority of y'all have seen this one. For those who haven't, it's pretty damn awesome. It's a "scripted" documentary of a fighter pilot playing war games near Las Vegas. There are five parts to the series, which can all be seen in the glory of HD on youtube.

Seriously, nobody else likes watching aviation videos?!?
I think you are just disgusted by my initial entry!

Here is a link to the ice pilots video from another thread:

It's already one of my favorites.

I would love to see self made videos, other peoples youtube entries, military aviation, or anything else that you have to offer. I wont let this one die without a single reply!

Try this if you haven't found them yet. www.youtube.com/skybobb about 30 a lot of Idaho backcountry landings. They are amateur but you might find them interesting. Check this one out HIS LAST WISH - AN AIRPLANE RIDE!

Damn, there's a ton on that site. I really liked the one that shows a 24 hour period on the world map. Europe gets mobbed for a bit and then they all bum rush the United States during our daylight hours. It really put into perspective the sheer number of planes flying every day. It's going to take me a while to work through that entire site, thanks!

That's what I was really looking for Bob. Some good videos from the dash. That first gravel strip landing looked pretty damn rough! How do you get the audio/mic into the video camera? I would like to make some of my own videos in the future. Oh yea, I subscribed to your channel so I can get all the new releases!

More good home videos! Is that your RV-4? Also, I'm sad to hear about Peg. I watched the video and it really made me tear up because I buried two of my own right before Christmas. "He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart." So true and so :frown3: :nonod:  . Thanks for sharing that video.

Although I don't want to derail this thread too much, I included a picture of Derby & Lacy. RIP

No, that's a friend's RV-4 (I was sitting in the back).
Sorry to hear about your collies... it sure is sad, but it's worth it, I think.

Just remembered another set of vids... this guy has a HUGE collection of vintage stuff, if you're interested.
Be sure to "click to see all"... there's a lot of stuff there.

The first video that came up is about Leonard Bonney's Gull Plane. It looks cool, but I could tell right where the video was headed. Sure enough, the plane is extremely unstable and hits the dirt =/.

Here is one of Bob Hoover pouring a cup of tea while rolling a plane. Pretty interesting stuff.

I couldn't find one of his trickle back landings, where he would do aerobatics, land the plane, and roll all the way back to his parking spot... all with no engines!

Here's another hoover clip; favorite of mine: Hoover finessing a Sabre...

Cropgun58 is the man! Some of his favorites are cool too, however I don't know if I would agree on a collage of crashes as favorites material.

That F-86 footage just proves it--Hoover was not a pilot. He was an artist of the rarest order.

How do you get the audio/mic into the video camera?

Not Bob, but here's what I do: Take a good pair of earbud headphones (the ones that come with an iPod work quite well). Put them into the cups of your headset, just loose (not in your ears). Plug them into the mic port on the video camera.

What I like about this as opposed to the mess of cables, portable intercoms, and what-not that most people seem to try to use, aside from this being WAY cheaper, is that you get some ambient engine noise. Without that, it really doesn't feel like flying. When you can hear the engine and hear all the power changes, it's a lot easier to put yourself in the cockpit.

BTW, here's a video I made using the earbuds-in-the-headset method. Note that you can hear exactly what I was hearing, including a little engine noise. (Just the right amount, IMHO!)

Also, many people will wonder how this works - Microphones and headphones are just transducers. They're each optimized for their intended use, but they'll both work going either way - Take a mic and plug it into a headphone jack, and sound will come out of it! Just be careful not to over-drive it and blow it out.

Well here's a couple of my faves...

Well actually three :)

Nice flying Snaggle! My first solo is coming up in a few weeks and I am going to try to video tape it as well. I could hear the tower loud and clear in your video, were you using the intercom instead of a headset?

Yes, I was using the intercom. The headsets were in the other plane, and another one of his students was doing a Solo XC as well. So we used earplugs and turned on the intercom.

I have many videos of my daughter and I flying but I won't bore you with those.
Here's an average day at the Kissimee airport.
