I am looking for a recommendation on a portable GPS. I am a renter and many of the planes don't have a GPS. I am looking on the low-end. Maybe a Lowrance 600c or 2000c. I am not interested in spending $1,500+ for the Garmins... It is just for situational awareness and to make sure I am heading the right way...

600c vs. 2000c vs. other...Any recomendations?

Thanks

I have the Lowrance 500 and use it for the same purpose as you. You can pick them up off ebay for around $200.00, I bought mine New for $299.00

I looked at both and went with the 600. While the 2000 has a bigger screen it still has the same resolution as the 600. The 600 also had terrain awareness, which was a really cool feature that I use all the time. The terrain feature also gives you a vertical view of airspace. I like that a lot as I fly around ORD's class B a significant amount of the time. The 600 also was smaller and has an auto mode. Given the price is 50% that o the 2000 I knew which one I wanted.
