Pre-takeoff checklist
I have Garmin GDL50 I bought last fall. The usb charging port broke and came out with the cable when my IA unplugged it to get under the panel last month.
I previously had a Stratus 2 that after a year or so of use the port loosened and would sometimes not charge. Bought it used so decided to buy a new 2S. That one eventually had the same issue.
Decided to give Garmin a try. Same deal now. What gives? I always left them plugged in on the dash and didn’t take them out or move them excessively.
Local garmin shop estimated $250 to repair my GDL. Are these USB ports really soldered on this cheaply?
