I was sitting at a fly in/car show and my buddy came up to my plane. Starts small talk, he's never seen it before. I ask him if he wants to go up and he says no, he's never flown and is scared to death to fly.

Fast forward an hour.......


We are taxiing out. I fly him over his house and around the area. We conduct a runway inspection, then circle around to land. We land and he is grinning ear to ear.

He asked he how much lesson were and what the cheapest plane was he could get. Then walks over the a C152 and says he wants this plane right here......


Missions accomplished......:yes:

I hope he's under 30. I was at a fly-in today too, and I swear there were about 50 old guys to each 1 guy under 30, and 1 kid.
 
No he's mid 30s and into classic cars. But some guy rolled in late in a V tail and I thought it was Brian] but some old guy was the yoke yanker. I was disappointed....
 
Did you have to shoot the crack directly into his veins like that?

Poor guy.

He doesn't know what he just wished for ... I hope he's got $$$$ to feed this addiction.

Awesome job!

Too bad we live in such a litigious society or else GA Pilots could proselytize more of the non flying with the "Gospel of treetops." That's how I got here.

Not sure of your area, but around here, we have fly ins that feel more like the old folks home dropped a bunch of guys off for a senior citizen lunch. Then we have others that have people of all ages. (Including one cute resident doctor to be that is young enough to be my daughter... I hate being over 40...)

Anyway, don't get discouraged, keep going. And talk to those old guys- I learn more from them than my best Cfi...

Absolutely, actually most of them come talk to me. Bit of a novelty. Lots of fun, lots of information.

As you get older, yoke yanker could have several connotations .... ;)

Only early-bird dinner special, though, before 4pm ...

I resent all the cane remarks here. I made my own and am proud of it. We need to invent a PC term for a cane. Something like a Walking-Aid-Device. That way I am less likely to choose to be offended ... :)
