My friend who I haven't seen in years was messaging me on FB tonight and he is an X Games Gold Medalist sky diver with thousands of dives.

This is a video of his friend that he shared with me tonight:

Like James Bond in Goldeneye.. And people said it was only possible in the movies..

That's pretty crazy. What I don't understand is how a plane can be pointed straight down for so long without exceeding its never-exceed airspeed.

Some turboprop models have the ability to put the prop into reverse pitch in the air. It appears that is what they are doing.

This one has a drogue chute, Wells. Kimberly's vid is of a turbine I think, I bet they flattened the prop. ("full reverse!")

I love the chute on that. Idk about that landing, but after you hang a plane from a drogue chute who cares huh?:D

I think I saw a drogue in Kimb's video, too. Anyway, that's the way it's normally done. When you hear them shout "That's Incredible" at the end, that's a tribute to the first guy who ever did it. He did it on a TV show in the late 70s called That's Incredible.

Huh, I had to go back and look and it does look like its in there. Good eye!

The guys down at Skydive Arizona like this trick, too:

There's a ton of videos of them doing crazy stuff outside of airplanes on that website. And just about any time there has been a skydive in TV or the movies in the last 10-15 years, it was these guys.

Thanks I thought it was strange but now I know why they shouted that. I could not believe the plane going straight down, either. I wonder what the indicated air speed was inside the cockpit.

Very cool! I like the part where the pilots sunglasses blow away.

I think they actually just fell off due to the fact that he was pointed straight down.....not a normal attitude for a regular pilot.

This thread should be merged with the one about the dangers of getting out of an airplane with a spinning propeller. Amazing. Even with a chute that plane must have a heck of a lot of trim, so to speak.
