Plane crashes in Cascade Locks, 2 aboard swim to shore

KCZK has eaten a few airplanes over the years. It gets some really strange winds sometimes that create serious downdrafts on short final. But this one seems to be just about the engine quitting.

Depending on how speculative you are, it could be about pranging the propeller on touchdown, 'cuz gear up, then an ill-advised go-around.

Yeah. Time will tell. Coulda been they just didn’t have enough gas to do even one go around.

Pilot posted on BT - Local airport but he'd not been in before. He made a low approach, gear up - flaps down and when went to climb away engine quit and the river was the only option.

No major injuries. Lots more could have gone wrong if he'd not flown it all the way down. Kudos to him.
