Friends - I'm considering a MyGoFlight ("MGF") mount for my iPad. It would be mounted to my panel, much like in this picture from a MGF ad:

I've always looked at MGF mounts and thought they looked "spindly" and less robust than Ram. I'd appreciate PIREPs on MGF mounts. Are they solid? Do they hold in place if I'm pushing buttons on the screen, or using an Apple pencil for clearance notes? If you are able, comparing them to your experience with Ram mounts would be helpful.

Thanks!

I have one on each side of my panel installed by the previous owner. I use the left one for my phone The are robust; very solid and expensive compared to a RAM mount. The look nicer but I find no significant functional difference compared to the RAM. My Ipad mini is mounted to the control column with a RAM type articulated mount instead of using the MGF mount.

I have the MGF iPad mount just like the one pictured: shorter arms on the quick release mount. Once you get it where you want it (it’s a bit of a chore with multiple pivot points), it’s solid! No wobble whatsoever. I don’t know how they did it, but that friction lock screw locks down all the pivot points making it surprisingly solid. I’m not sure how solid one would be with the longer arms.

I also have the MGF yoke clamp for my phone and that one does wobble a bit. I haven’t tried attaching a mini tablet to it, but I imagine one would need to stabilize it by resting it on the center of the yoke.

I had the same concerns before someone gifted me the MyGoFlight mount and cradle. While they are expensive, they are by far the best mounts I've come across. RAM works well, but this is a level up for sure. I was using the suction cup style with an iPad Pro (the 13"), and it was very solid all around. You won't regret it.

I have a MGF RAM adapter to mount a Ipad mini 6 MGF cool case to the control column. Works good but no anti-rotation feature and thus, the case can rotate sometimes. It can be desired if you want to shift the Ipad from portrait to landscape quickly. I would prefer a lock down mechanism to prevent unintentional rotation. That is my only knock, other than cost, on their mounting products.
