PIREP Request: Pecan Plantation Airport 0TX1

At SWMBO's wishes, we met up with a real estate agent and toured Pecan Plantation a couple of years ago. First, it really is "out a ways" from Fort Worth. Second, if I'm gonna be "out a ways", I prefer a lower key environment. I don't want to live in a dumpy neighborhood with a bunch of cars up on blocks, but Pecan Plantation seemed pretty formal to me.

Of course, I'm terrified of airpark real estate so I was probably looking for an "out". My fear is that in 10 years, there simply won't be enough up and coming pilots (or retiring pilots) for the airpark market to thrive (or even maintain). Locally, I've seen what happens when a fly-in community loses critical mass and has a high percentage of residents with no connection to aviation. It ain't pretty.

Right now, I’m thinking out loud, I’d say this is more of a 5 year plan. But curious about the school options and if the community is accepting of us liberal Chicago folks. There’s a real estate agent who talks highly about the area on YouTube but he did say it’s a conservative community with conservative values, I know I need to take that with a grain of salt. But I would like a hangar home one day.

We're a fairly liberal-ish leaning family. We live in Denton. In Denton and Austin, you will find the community to be pretty accepting of everyone. Austin is pretty extreme. It's where we used to always party when we were in college cuz it was a little more out there. Now it's way way out there.

I find Denton to be very well blended. I don't see as many truck nuts and rebel flags up here but we also have flat earthers and other weird stuff but it does seem a little more balanced. The schools are great.

Honestly, the area I moved from in Canada (about an hour and a half north of Toronto) had more truck nuts, rebel flags, four wheelers and jacked up pick up trucks than our little Dallas suburban neighborhood.

I get cold very easily. I don't get hot very easily. I kid you not, I find it more pleasant to run at 90 degrees than at 70 degrees.
You are a strange man! :-) I absolutely hate the heat. Even more when after, in the low to mid 90s, I passed out 200 yards from the finish line in a triathlon!
