Piper Meridian crashed in MO

The story was on the local news in Minneapolis last night because the pilot (and some of the pax) is the owner of a well known large project construction firm here. Not that you can believe much of a TV news report involving aviation, but the talking heads said there were witness reports that implied the airplane "exploded" in the air and rained down in many pieces. Of course, I've heard that a wing separation sounds and to some extent looks like an explosion.
