Piper 140 Airplane crash

from what I read, it seemed like he put the plane down really slow and then it stayed upright. He then got out into the water and the plane went down after.

Good on him not to flip it. I wonder if he landed it like a tree landing? Stalling nose high with almost no forward airspeed...

From the eye witness accounts, that's what it sounds like. They said his tail hit the water first and belly flopped the rest.

I know if I ever have to put down in the sea, that's what I am doing.
