Pilots, thoughts?

Looks interesting. For $119k it's a bargain. Just no room here in town to take off.

Yeah, I checked it out at the boatshow, pretty interesting unit, what it lacks is the ability to deploy and retract the chute underway.
 
Don't these powered parachutes have a pretty low limit on how much wind they can operate in? It seems like that would restrict its capability for commercial applications (farmers and pipeline patrol as mentioned in the video).

Interesting to see what the FAA's take on operating it commercially will be, I'm not seeing that happening personally. How much wind you can operate in is a flexible thing, just like you can trim a plane for speed, you can trim a chute for speed, you just need more power to maintain altitude.
 
The maverick is a better vehicle IMO. Of course you could buy a dune buggy and a powered parachute seperately for about the cost of the tax on either one.
