Filing Flight Plan
Good evening!
Fly it Forward is brought to you by Women of Aviation Week, whose aim is to introduce as many women to aviation as possible during the week that the first female pilot, Raymond de Larouche received her pilot's certificate in 1910. In March of 2011, Frederick Municipal Airport won the honor of being the "Most Female Pilot Friendly Airport in the World" after providing free rides for 185 women who have not experienced flight in general aviation aircraft. Women came from all over the DC metro area for a day at the airport.
In 2012 Fly it Forward is back again, with hopes of outdoing last year's event. Frederick Municipal Airport is inviting women and girls of all ages who have never been in a small aircraft before to come for a free flight! Commercial airline flights do not count! Even if an individual doesn't qualify for a free flight during Fly it Forward, there are activities for everyone-that means the men, too! There will be static aircraft displays, special guests, free snacks, and tethered hot air balloon rides!
New for this year: a Flight Award essay contest! One lucky girl will receive a monetary award to use towards flight lessons in Frederick! Ladies who have flown in the 2012 or 2011 event qualify.
To make this all possible, we need volunteer pilots and their aircraft as well as sponsors to cover the flight award essay contest, food, and other event expenses.
Please visit www.WomenFlyitForward.com or email [email protected] for more information, including a link to download a sponsor package. Feel free to pass on this message to anyone you think will be interested in helping out!
Thanks!
