Pilot walks away:KFLY

Could it be that this was not an N Numbered aircraft and as such the Local PD is sticking his nose into this because the FAA cares less?

What we have for reporters today is a joke. Nothing in this article one walking by could not come up with.

It would be nice to know make model and if it had an N number.

Apparently, it was a Yankee. Saw the smoke while driving nearby and said to my wife that it looked to be at the airport. Sure enough, there it was.

Fortunate for the owner to get out, but don't know him. I'll ask around today and see who knows what.

Burning aircraft usually make impressive crash sites. It could be it didn't even crash but just caught fire. When the pilot exited it could easily have been a fully intact aircraft. but not much left by the time the reporters get there to take photos.

Always good when the county sherif does the investigation. Hope it wasn't an insurance case.
