I did not even hear about it till this morning.

I think Monday was 25 August*.... and nothing but monsoon rains here in northwest NM.

I was in the plane at Tucson once waiting for a mini haboob to blow through before departing.

Yes. It's an intense storm that blows in very quickly. They aren't uncommon here and we get them like this every few years. They can be accompanied by very damaging winds and flash flooding.
