The focus isn't perfect, but can you see anything interesting in this shot?

For bonus points, name the engine and airframe:

Prize TBD. :)

photo 1: looks like theres a hole in the casting next to the hole for the spark plug. i suppose this could cause a compression issue.

photo 2: is it the IO-235 (or something like that) on the DA20?

Hey, Tony, you're good!

DA-20-C1 w/ Cont. IO-240

Yes, hole in the cylinder casting. Odd thing is a chunk of aluminum was lodged in the lower spark plug. Appeared to have been bounced around quite a bit before it was captured. Mechanic thinks it's possibly a void in the casting that failed thru-wall in both directions.

Found during compression check. The reading was in the high 60's. It was the hissing sound that give it away.

The plane is just over 3 years old, but is used as a trainer.

Update: Aircraft was undergoing 50 hr inspection (per Diamond program). Engine had approximately 1000 hrs. Waiting to see what Continental/FAA/Diamond want to do. FAA flew down today to take a look.

Ill be waiting for my IAR ride at gastons :D

hey now Jay, be nice. I was purely guessing. I have never seen a continental IO-240 or a DA20 in person. It just looked about like an O-200, but was injected, and I knew they used that engine on the DA20.

Can you tell me what the winning lotto numbers are for the MassMillions then???!!!
