I'm thinking about transferring to Phoenix for work. Anybody here have any good info on the place? Any good flight schools/clubs? I've been there before, but it's been 10+ years.

Great flying except May - September too hot.

Chandler has a great airport with good flight school, and an exceptional on field restaurant.

Oh, that's not true....you just need to get up early in the bloody morning and climb to altitude before it warms up during those months.

Now what you don't want to do is time your departure from PHX at rush hour in the middle of the day during July. Been there.....done that.....and SOAKED my t-shirt!

gotta agree... early mornings in the summer are great... just be back in the barn by 9 or 10am! Lotsa little clubs, AZ pilot assoc, Deer Valley Pilots Assoc, EAA chapters, etc. Numerous flight schools or individual instructors. Monster flight schools doing Chinese/Korean pilots. KDVT busiest GA airport in country. Several AZ airports in top 20. Lots of great day trips, lots of back country opportunities. Mexico trips, too. 320-350 VFR days /yr.

Hangars can get a bit warm... Official airport temp was 109 this day...
