Persuasive Speech 101...

So today I gave my college persuasive speech. Topic was User Fees (I'm agin 'em)

Got an "A" on it, and when it was done, several students requested onw of the fifteen copies of the AOPA legislative scorecard I had printed. That's the more important part.

Guess I did well since I was "passionate", and remarks on my conclusion were "even stronger appeal". The professor is an icon at our school, and has carried the forensics team to nationals for the last thirty or so years. Several firsts and seconds on the national level.

Hopefully some of those kids will contact their senators and encourage them to vote for HR 2881.

I used the same topic for my Spch 101 Persuasive Speech last semester. I assumed the class would be ho-hum about such a boring topic as funding legislation, but at the end of it, the prof actually had to say "Ok folks, we need to move on to the next speaker" because the people were asking so many questions about it.

Amazing how the unbiased general public joins our side when they get the FACTS instead of some multi-million dollar ad campaign.
