Perfecting the art of the long blink during flying

I am a huge believer in the 15 minute power nap.

I don't believe all this chest thumping from the "just don't do it" crowd ...

I'll bet they've either never flown a very long x-country around their small state, or they're lying that they've never nodded off.

If you fly long enough and hard enough, it'll happen to you and superman.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandpa, not screaming like the passengers in his plane...

I am a huge believer in the 15 minute power nap.

On a side note the FAA banned power napping for Controllers for a while. Anwhere, anytime during their shift. Couldn't do it on their breaks. That's been undone.

Who cares about what the regs say on the subject? The goal is safety. I recommend the IMSAFE checklist. if you're tired, land and sleep or don't fly but do not engage in "long blinks".
Geez, I'd hate to fly with someone whose "goal is safety". . .

Better yet, do an aileron roll, that'll wake you up! :D
(careful not to apply full deflection if you are above Va)
On the other hand, a wee bit of safety is O.K. . . I heard tale (obscure SNL reference) long ago, of a primate, DNA quite similiar to mine, that attempted to aileron roll a 172. The smooth ape was young, and had read a book. . .the exercise ended a thousand or so feet lower, on another heading. On a positive note, the shock engendered in the monk a new capacity for abstract thought. . .
