PCA/GCA ANR headset volume knobs

Im not sure if this is the right forum, but I have a question about my new headset. There are volume knobs on both sides, but the instructions only refer to the volume knob on the side opposite the mic. Does anyone know what the knob on the mic side does? Just trying to familiarize myself with it before first use. Thanks.

On the set I have with two volume knobs, one is for each ear cup. They are stereo.
