"Teddy bears drop in, bring down 2 Belarus generals
By By YURAS KARMANAU and FRANK JORDANS – 1 day ago
MINSK, Belarus (AP) — It's probably the first time in history that teddy bears have defeated generals.
Belarus' authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko has sacked two of the nation's top defense officials after two Swedish advertising agency employees piloted a light plane into the country's heavily guarded airspace, dropping 879 teddy bears decked out in parachutes and slogans supporting human rights."

What were they supposed to do? Shoot down an unarmed civilian plane caring teddy bears?

Well, dropping leaflets on Cuba has bad side effects...

"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!!!"

The bear in the my plane above is wearing a "Bears Fly" T-Shirt (it says People fly too, on the back...a dig at the women fly shirt that has "OK, men fly too" on the back).

He's a regular staple at some of the local airshows.

Wasn't there a German teenager back in the 70's that flew in to Moscow in a 172? He had Cold War sized brass ones.

I just read the article that Jim linked to. Turns out it was in 1987, and it was the catalyst that enabled Gorbachev to purge various high ranking military officials. Good stuff. :yesnod:

...edit:

Wow - Mathias has had a very eventful/strange life since that stunt. :yikes:
