Checkout their B-17. An up-close inspection should find some odd attach points
on the forward part of the fuselage.

Why? They are the attach points for the Fulton Skyhook capture mechanism. This
particular B-17 was used by the CIA to retrieve those poor soldiers assigned to "ice
station duty."
 
Originally there were only to be four levers that would work pairs of engines, but they had some issues with the throttle control system and went from four pneumatically controlled levers to eight electrically controlled ones.

Once you push them forward on the takeoff run, it's the flight engineer's job to tweak them most likely, the pilot is too busy flying.
