Seeing a few threads here-there about the term it caused me to wonder the effect it would have on the pre-owned aircraft market.

If I would have to have my mechanic pay special attention to any non-certified parts during a pre-buy, would this uncertainty be cause for devaluing the aircraft?

Then there are those that will stay in the certified realm, how will they be marketed as "pristine" or all OEM?

Will this possibly cause OEMs to reduce their prices to compete with a buyers market in the pre-owned arena? Will the accident rate increase due to mechanical issues and failures?

Questions, questions...

It is currently NOT an option to declare an aircraft experimental or owner-maintained in the US. There's proposals in place, but it hasn't happened.

Almost certainly once an aircraft is done in that status the Airworthiness Certificate will become branded with that status and everything will be suspect when you buy that just like when you buy a used experimental AB now.
