So avast with the mundane everyday-speak, me hearties, and wherever yer winged ship be sailing today, let out with a good hearty "Ahoy, there!" in greeting or a good "Arrrr! Fer that we'll be keelhaulin' ye and feedin' ye to the fishes!" when the line boy drops the fuel nozzle on yer sail--er, wing.

Yesterday, me and me new pirate--er--pilot instructor set sail for me second lesson since arriving in these waters. I sailed at 1800 feet over the Columbia Gorge to Cascade Locks with the big moutains higher than me on both sides, arrrr, and big fat clouds overhead. Quite a change it be from the calm, flat seas of wheat and beet and soybeans in North Dakota it was, arrrr!

Fair skies and seas, mateys!

Argh matey that be a good flight d'er. Avast with the bad wx in Portland aye matey?

The wx in PDX be not too bad, matey. Rain during the night and early morning, but be fair for flyin' or sailin' the mighty Columbia by noon. So faaaarrrrr, anyways. Firrrrst time I was flyin' the Jolly Skyhawk, it was in and out of showers, but a fair ceiling and good vis.

Come to think of it, I also sailed the mighty Columbia for the first time (first time sailin' for this former lubber, matey) and I was given the tiller whilst me fair sister handled the sheets and sails. Arrr--was told i was a natural born sailor and could "read the wind" although I had no idea what the hell I was doin', but look at me now, all piratey and nautical. Arrrrr.

By the way, there be free grub for the sea dogs who come in to Salvador Molly's tonight and talk like a pirate. http://www.salvadormollys.com/
