At 06C we often joke that the airport's AWOS data collection platform is installed either inside Pilot Pete's kitchen or somewhere in the basement. Here's proof of it.
Virtually all the airports in the vicinity report today west winds in the high 20s low 30s knots, with gusts from 40 to 50 knots. Schaumburg shows a pleasant 12G25K.
Even when the windsock is fully extended at 06C its AWOS reports CLM. I usually check the METAR at KDPA and KORD for a more accurate wind report. But it makes you wonder: where the heck is that wind meter installed at 06C?
