Opinions needed

My first thought on your post was "Opinion? Well you're in the right place..."

I like the mite. Seems like a reasonable price as long as the engine isn't ragged out. The aircraft appears to be in good shape based on the three pictures.

Does it meet LSA specs? The weight is there and I see someplace that says top speed 138 mph.

120 kts but only about a 440 mile range on 11 gallons of fuel.

For a production aircraft maybe. I'd spend an extra 3K and buy the Varieze that's on Barnstormers instead. Way more speed / range and you've got two seats or one seat and a bunch of bags.

It is a collectible ,not very roomy, but you can get in the air at a fair price.

I think it's a retractable, no? If so, then no LSA.

If you're shorter than 6', then go for it. If you're 6'3" and 210 lbs, then you'll be needing a bigger airplane.

Heard nothing but good things.

Would love to buy that plane. Already own a Mooney, but that is a collectable and just fun flying. Alas, my wife would kill me if I bought another plane.

Flew a Mite about 40-50 hours back around 1986. It was a hoot. I'm 5'11" and was about 180# back then and it was a tight fit. I have some video of it somewhere transferred to DVD.

On my list of planes I'd like to own, I always said I wanted a Pitts...then I saw one land up close and decided I don't need that kind of stress.
But the Mite still appeals to me.

Stress??? My Pitts is stress relief :-)
Once you get the proper training it is like landing anything else. I think the Pitts is easier to land than my Cub because it is very responsive. I have a 6000x75 runway here at 11R so that helps.

.
Show me a Pitts that hasn't been wrecked and I'll show you a new one.

Mine hasn't been wrecked and I don't plan on it either.. I have about 250 hours in a Pitts S-2C, Model 12, and 2 Eagles. With common sense and proper training they are the most honest airplanes you will fly.
They are not for the airline pilot that thinks he can fly a Pitts just because he can fly a 737.. It don't work like that!

Whoever buys it should ask the owner how it was flying T28's into thunderstorms for research. That guy did my CFII checkride and is a wealth of knowledge on all this aviation. I think he's got a large collection of ratings too, rotorwing, gyro, baloon.

Stand by to eat crow, there are those who have and those who will.

OBTW nice aircraft.

I've got lots of tailwheel time...but I prefer short aircraft tailwheels that touch down UNDER 60 mph...face it, you're just an aviator god, and I'm a mere mortal! lol

Sure, I can get one of those and drive to the airport in a Lotus - which I also can't fit into.

I really wanted one, did my research, but at just over six feet, and north of 220 pounds, it wasn't happening. . .

Ah, the wives can be hard on planes and boats! The Mooney comment takes me back. I flew one extensively in late 60s, performance wood pioneer?
