I just had one of those embarrassing moment yesterday on a Mirage pre-buy at Orange County Airport.
My first was when a Malibu owner was dropping his ship off for an annual years ago. No my wife wife had told me that he worked for this major airline. As I'm putting the aircraft in the hangar I asked him how long he had been flying for the airline. He then tells me "I don't fly for them I'm the president".
Yesterday was when I prepped a buyer for the challenges of converting to a Jetprop and posting as a new owner on the MMOPA board, we got to talking about what he did for a living. It turns out that he was a former airforce test pilot and space shuttle commander. I'll bet he can stand his own.
I am always amazed at the amazing people that are involved in general aviation.
