Why would a person who, when he or she rates them at all, only rate threads with one star? I can't see a common theme. I'm pretty sure it has just been one person doing it because I've experimented by entering an opposing 5 star rating, which yields an immediate 3 star average.

I don't otherwise pay any attention to the thread rating.

Yes it's mostly the same one or two people that do it, yes I know who they are, and yes we may not tolerate it forever.

I'm just curious about their motivation; if they want to one-star threads I personally have no objections.

star ratings?

huh?

I never knew you could do that, and I never noticed the stars at all until now.

I'll have to start giving one-star ratings, just to see if it works.

Never even noticed the ratings system when accessing via web, and it isn't a feature carried over to the API for interfaces like Tapatalk.

Neither are Polls, so sometimes I hit "open in Safari" to click on a Poll.

The user interface font size and simplicity of Tapatalk far outweighs the extra features in the "true" web interface. No need to click on a tiny blue arrow to jump to the last read entry in a thread, font size is controlled by the device like it should be, etc.

Similar to having a preferred reader for e-mail or the old USENET NNTP protocol, Tapatalk is great for just keeping up with discussions without all the goofiness of browser-based interfaces.

Me likey. ;)

Not paying much attention to browser-only features like star-ratings. It's about the discussion and the people. Not bells and whistles. :)

 There's stars on threads?

Above the first post on every thread should be a line of drop-down menu tools like "Thread Tools", "Search this Thread", and so on. I uploaded a snipped portion of my screen using Windows 7 Snipping Tools and highlighted the part where you can see the aggregate rating and a tool to add your rating of the thread.

I guess I should go write a script to find any new posts by BoD members and immediately mark them five stars!

It could run when I'm not even online. Computers make brown-nosing easier. ;)

I imagine the one star threads are at the ones I started. Probably not worth much more than that anyway. The jokes aren't that funny. Some of the videos are, though.

I've noticed that every thread Ben (spiderweb) starts gets a one-star.

Come on Jesse, out the dirtbag(s)!

So what's the point? I have noticed the stars, but don't pay the least bit of attention to it.

I just found some thing else to play with, But I wonder who really cares. ??

I've been conscious of the stars before, but like movie reviews, if anything, more stars by the "critics" indicate a less interesting thread.

I doubt many posters know or care about the star rating. Sometimes I'll vote out of boredom.

I've noticed that, too. It has been going on for YEARS.

It is not that I care about what someone thinks about my posts; it is just that there are ONE or TWO persons who specifically, systematically feel that everything I say is ****.

Having said that, removing the rating system isn't going to change their opinion of me. I'll just have to take them out to lunch some day (assuming they can stand the sight of me!)

You lucky b*stard - most of us toil in obscurity and YOU get your own nemesis! I don't know how many times I've insulted people on this board and never got that kind of recognition in return. Anyway, I think this song is for you (actual aviation content at 0:25; kinda):
