Great views of the hardware of the time. A highly fictionalized account of the work of David Simons, Joe Kittinger, and John Stapp. As usual, the real stories are better. The books Project Man High and especially The Pre Astronauts are fantastic reads. So to is Magnificent Failure about a private civilian attempt to break Kittingers free fall record.

Dunno where you would find a copy other than buying (or renting) it - but the 1941 version of the same topic (experimental flight medicine) is "Dive Bomber" with Errol Flynn and Fred MacMurray - lots of REALLY bad ADM, but some interesting clips of straight deck carrier operations from the '30s.
