So, my beloved Horned Frogs are in the College World Series. *IF* they continue to do well, and are still playing when I'm off this Friday, I'm seriously considering making the flight to go see them. The two airports that are nearest are Millard (KMLE) and Council Bluffs (KCBF). Anyone have any intel on which might be better? Cheaper gas, better facilities, easier access to the park, etc?

Thanks!

Why not KOMA? Used to fly in there when I did the airline gig and seems it was only 10-15 minutes into the city. I think the field is on that side of town too, coming from the airport.

We always flew into OMA when we went there. Good services, nice folks. My recollection was the costs weren't too much worse and also significantly closer.

According to Google, either MLE or CBF are only 5-10 minutes further away than OMA. I found it on the internet, so I have to assume it's true. My thought was that it would be worth the extra travel time to avoid the hassle and expense I assumed came with landing at a Class C airport like Eppley. If that's not the case, I may just go to OMA. Though CBF looks quite a bit cheaper.

KOMA is the closest to the action. You'll get great service there but they do have ramp fees for the FBOs there. They might waive it with a fuel purchase. You may want to call and ask (I've never had to buy fuel because we're only an hour away). They'll take care of you, though. It's certainly an easy and accommodating Class C airport.

I've flown into and out of KMLE quite a bit. Nice people. I've flown into KCBF a few times as well and they've always been nice enough. It's probably six in one and half dozen the other. If it were me I'd probably fly into KMLE. They are both about the same time distance to the field but KMLE is more "Omaha" if that makes sense.

There is a Cabela's very close to KMLE and a Bass Pro Shop close to KCBF. KCBF has casinos if that trips your trigger. Probably not a wrong answer.
