Does anyone know where to find old airport identifiers? I've been going through my old log books, and I've noticed that several airports have either changed identifier or may be closed. Some of them I have been able to figure out based on the remarks I entered, but others I have not.

Thanks

I guess they think you don't need an identifier for closed airports as you will most likely not be doing any flight planning to one.

St. George, Utah, is a tricky one. The identifier is the same (KSGU), but almost six years ago they moved the airport. o_O

For the first year the new airport had a temporary identifier (KDXZ), then FAA reassigned KSGU to it. So if you have an old database and dial in KSGU, it will take you to an abandoned airport on a scenic mesa, six miles north of the new field.
